So ... I'll start with my facemask.
My technique & color matching has improved since I did my A-5.
I printed off several copies of the same section of M.C., on
regular paper.
I broke down the color patterns & cut out each color step individually.
They were all 'female' stencils.

1. Base coat {a} & feathered brown stripe {b}.
{a}KRYLON Outdoor Spaces Textured Khaki, which has a rough finish &
is more pink than the KRYLON Camo Khaki.
{b}RUSTOLEUM Multicolor Textured with no label, but a medium brown.
Then, a quick pass (dusting) of the KRYLON Camo Khaki, just to tone
down the brown.

2. KRYLON Camo Khaki stenciles over the textured khaki & just into,
but not much into the brown stripe.
They are placed sparingly & may or may not end up being
visible in the finished project, but they're in M.C., so ... do it.

3. RUSTOLEUM Multicolor Textured stencils over the brown stripe
and the pink base.

4. {a}KRYLON FUSION Honeydew Mellon large stencils, over the
whole thing.
The mellon color is just the base for this step.
After it's in place there are two more steps.
{b} CANPRO Olive Drab Green is dusted over top to get the
lighter green.
{c} KRYLON OUTDOOR SPACES Moss is dusted onto half of the
stencil, blending into the mellon/o.d.

5. KRYLON OUTDOOR SPACES Moss stencils are done overtop of
the other green stuff.

6. KRYLON Camo Brown stencils over the entire piece.

7. KRYLON OUTDOOR SPACES Sand stencils, with a very light
dusting of the camo khaki, just to tone it down.

8. Clearcoat 4 coats with a flat varnish & bake at 140*F for a
couple hours in the oven, to finish.

A picture of me & the a-5, which I posted in the Mods & Upgrades Forum, by mistake.

Lookin good. You continue to do nice work. Now all you need are some homemade GoggleSkinz to match and you'll be invisible. Keep the hits coming.
buffaloclone
thats really good looking
ShadoAngel
Great work! Thanks for writing the How-To!
nchittendon
Nice how to! You've got more patience than I've got! haha I wish I had the skill to paint free-hand like that.
Niceguy74
thats nice!
bob endo
Still waiting on a flatline for this setup,
but here's what I've got on the go, presently.

Niceguy74
nice. but you need some gloves and goggle skins. instead of a flatline, you may wanna look at the apex barrels. i just got one and OMG it is amazing.
bob endo
My Flatline will be performing exactly the same 10 years from now.
(Long after your Apex rubber has peeled & fragmented.)
I have an Apex & it never sees the light of day.
In my opinion ... they are junk.
I saw one, when they were brand new, that worked as they should.
The rest I've tested (I work at a field, by the way, so I see a lot of them.)
have all been garbage.
Count your lucky stars, cuz it sounds like you got a good one.
For me though ... Flatline FTW !
nchittendon
I would say, gloves, and knee pads. Don't take this the wrong way, but unless you spend a lot of time on your knees, that black really stands out.

Otherwise, great set-up! I'm a MC-aholic myself.
bob endo
Gloves, I have ... just not in the picture.
The pads are actually OD Green, by Hatch.
I spend a lot of time on one knee & the other
one is usually hidden behind my arm/marker.
Like so:
nchittendon
Nice tuck!

My biggest problem that I have to work on is sticking my knee out there. I always get hit in the knee or the marker.
bob endo
It's my right wrist & the right, top of the
hopper that get it most times.
I'm gonna try using a reversed offset to center
the hopper & alleviate that, somewhat.
Also, I'm waiting on a left hip replacement.
Until then ... my options are somewhat limited.
So ... that's my pose, kneeling, as it were.
People are gonna be in some serious trouble,
once I have two good legs under me.
Maybe I should wash those pads & turn them
green again.
It's been a couple of years since they were a
true OD.

Cesar
looks great.....but ummmm...why didnt you take your goggle strap off before you painted it?
bob endo
Nothing in nature is black.
+
Black is not MultiCam.

I finished this project now:

I think I'm happy, overall.
